Off with a bang!

After being on the road for all 6 of our non-conference games, we started out the conference season with 2 home wins. Being on the road is a great opportunity to play some tough competition and really bond as a team.

However, we were all very excited to get on the home court and play for our fans. We put up two great efforts and secured the wins. Our offense finally broke out while our solid defense and rebounding held steady.

Shout out to our players who have been putting in major work in the classroom and on the court. We are off to NE this weekend and then finals week. 3 more games until Christmas!

Game On!

We had our first exhibition game of the year this week at Johnson and Wales. It was a great opportunity for all 16 of our players to get some live action. There were many bright spots as we felt our team did a great job rebounding and running the floor.

Much to work on, as always. Our exhibition contests keep moving up in competition level. We'll be at UNC on Friday night and expect a great physical and athletic match-up. Sunday we go to CU for our last "practice" game. We love these opportunities to compete and figure out what kind of team we are developing into.

BTW: It was Halloween last week.

Regis Football

Who says we did it all without a football team? For the 9th consecutive year, the Regis Football team (disguised as the women's basketball team) captured the off-season Football Championship.

Each year we challenge another team on campus to a flag football game. It's a great way to interact and have fun with other athletes at Regis. Thanks to the Lacrosse team for joining us this year! Enjoy the footage captured by Kaitie Vader.

Fall

What an amazing fall we have are having! It's been great to be able to do some of our running outside in this beautiful weather.

The coaches are pleased with the effort and attitude our team is putting in during weight and conditioning workouts.

This is the time of year that leaders really step forward and start guiding us. The will and drive of the team is every bit as important as the talent and it takes determined leaders to show the way.

There is no glamour this time of year, but there is no glory without the pain, sweat and tears that are put in in the fall. Not to say we don't know how to have fun and support our fellow athletes!

Rangers at the Park

Our team embarked on its first adventure last weekend. Camping at Golden Gate State Park! We had a great time and the weather was awesome. You can't beat living in Colorado.

Shout out to the food and activities commitees, we pretty much ate and played games the entire time. Pictured are 2 of our award winners, Nicole for being the "keeper of the flame" and Miranda for pretty much beating everyone at everything.

Most importantly, everyone had a chance to get to know each other a little bit better. We have an amazing group of women who have so much to give. I am very much looking forward to the journey we have started together.

Practice?

We're talking about practice! A new rule has allowed us to start practicing with our whole team this fall. It was great! We were able to put in a lot of new things and had a lot of fun.

Our team is very athletic and skilled which has all of us very excited. Our goal is to get 1% better everyday and we definitely got there today. We plan on making the most of this new opportunity and will be back for round two next week!

Getting Started!

Summer is rapidly winding down. Many of our players have already arrived in town and our new freshman will begin orientation in 3 weeks. We are super excited for the upcoming year. A great mix of veterans, transfers and freshman will provide competitiveness and energy to propel us to a successful season.

Coach Raunig and I have been out on the recruiting trail all summer and are in the process of visiting with several outstanding young ladies. Fall is the time for official visits and determining which players we would like to invite to join our Regis family.

Congrats to our team once again for an excellent showing in the classroom. We finished the year above a 3.5 gpa. Check out the link for a great story about Lauren Luebbe. She was chosen as a finalist for the NCAA Div. II Women of the Year. http://www.regisrangers.com/sports/wbkb/2011-12/releases/20110804elvanv

I hope to keep the blog updated with lots of fun info. Please leave a comment and let me know if there is a topic of interest I can address.
